Monument record MDO6009 - Bowl barrow, one of the Badbury Rings Group, Shapwick

A Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1975 this monument was reported as being around 25 feet in diameter. Grinsell (1959) records that it existed as a small mound in 1935 but had gone by 1954. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

The site of a Bronze Age burial mound is vaguely discernible on aerial photograph CUAP AQY95. RCHM (1975,63) records it as a bowl barrow 7.5m in dia. It lies on a south east slope and is shown as an earthwork on the 25 inch – 1 mile 1887 Ordnance Survey map.
