Full Description

There was a chapel at Burton Bradstock dedicated to Saint Catherine, to which belonged the tithes of Down Farm. Simon Bowring possessed it in 1650. <1>

According to the Rev Dittmer, the position of the chapel was not shown on any plans, but it seemed likely to have been in the area of Saint Catherine's Cross, a mile north of the village. No trace of it could be found during field investigation. <2>

There was a chapel of Saint Catherine at Catherine's Cross, north of Burton Bradstock, one of serveral in the area dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria. <3>
