Full Description
Bowl barrow 46ft in diameter by 5ft high, surrounded by a substantial ditch. It was excavated by Pitt-Rivers, who found a cremation, probably primary, near the centre. <4>
ST 96861793. A bowl barrow in Barrow Coppice. The barrow mound is composed of earth, flint and chalk and measures up to 15 metres in diameter and 1 metre high. Scheduled. <5>

‘Twenty-seven round barrows, several damaged or levelled by ploughing, have been recorded in the parish. Many have been excavated, most of them by General Pitt-Rivers, but very few completely. Pitt-Rivers reconstituted the barrows which he dug. … (42) Bowl (96871793), in Barrow Coppice, E. of Woodcutts Common, was excavated by Pitt-Rivers, who found a cremation, probably primary, near the centre (Excavations II (1888), 3). The mound, 46 ft. in diameter and 5 ft. high, is surrounded by a substantial ditch.’
