Summary

A pit recorded during observations of a pipeline from Purbeck to Southampton in 1989. The filling of the pit consisted of a series of black, charcoal-rich deposits containing a few sherds of pottery of Iron Age or Romano-British date.

‘Plot 56.4 SY 94799729 Combe Almer
At the top of a slope a pit 1.1 m deep and 1.3 m wide was observed cut into the clay subsoil. The fill consisted of a series of black, charcoal-rich deposits amongst which were a few sherds of Iron Age or Romano-British pottery. No other features were found in the locality.’
