F404 is a wide (c.35m) curving hollow, approximately E-W aligned and naturally infilled, visible on the field surface and located towards the SW corner of the field … Its slope is very gradual on both sides and it is filled with a sequence of colluvial type deposits … The earliest identified fill (context 409) was composed of a blackish-brown, slightly humic clayey silt which was not bottomed. Overlying this was context 408, a narrow and isolated horizon of light grey silty sand containing occasional small gravels. This layer was cut towards the centre of the hollow by a seemingly modern sand-filled field-drain. This drain was sealed by the most extensive fills (contexts 405, 406 and 407), all sandy silts of varying proportions, which are therefore likely to have been deposited within the hollow in relatively recent times. No artefacts were recovered from any layer within the hollow.’
