Find Spot record MDO6259 - Prehistoric worked flint, 36-69 East Borough, Wimborne Minster

A small quantity of burnt worked flint from a deep black soil in what is thought to be a backland location within the medieval town. Of probable prehistoric date, but not associated with or indicative of prehistoric activity on or in the vicinity of the site.

Six pieces of flint, one burnt, from a thick layer of fine black garden soil which also contained modern debris. The garden soil layer was approximately 0.5m thick, above a lower horizon of dark brown topsoil approximately 0.4m, situated on a sandy gravel at depths between 0.75 and 0.95m below present ground level. The flint is described by the excavators as being of probable prehistoric date, but a more detailed description is not given. (1)
