Full Description
A small ring or pendant of ivory was found on a field near the Mesolithic habitation site at the Old Lower Lighthouse [SY 66 NE 7]. Probably from a mammoth, and fossilised, it may support the possibility that Portland was frequented by Palaeolithic people during a late phase of the Weichsel (Devensian) glaciation. <1>
