Summary

Bowl Barrow in conspicious position on Lodge Hill, It has a slight hollow on top. The barrow is faintly visible on 1940s aerial photographs but more clearly visible on current Lidar imagery. It was digitally plotted from these sources by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

'(366) Bowl (?) (SZ 09 NW; 02659534) in conspicuous position on Lodge Hill above 200 ft. contour and re-entrant valley to E. Diam. 50 ft., ht. 3½ ft. Slight hollow on top'. (1)

(C) SZ 02659534. Bowl barrow, 50 feet in diameter 3 1/2 feet high, slight hollow on top.(2)

The barrow is faintly visible on 1940s aerial photographs but more clearly visible on current Lidar imagery (3 and 4). The feature comprises a mound 19m in diameter on the nose of a south facing spur of ground on Lodge Hill. A faint suggestion of a ditch between 1m and 1.5m wide is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (3).

The feature was digitally plotted from sources 3 and 4 by the Dorset Stour NMP project; the location of the feature is taken from current Lidar imagery (4).
