Full Description
(Area centred SZ 013951) Worked flints and flakes found here. <1>
The flints and microliths were found in the field west of Cobbles (SZ 01369522) and Mr. Calkin believes they came from a Mesolithic flaking site. Perambulation of the area around Cobbles produced no evidence of Mesolithic activity and the occupier of the house knew nothing of the finds. <2>
(Area centred SZ 013951) Mesolithic site including twelve microliths, three in Dorset County Museum, nine in the
J.J. Stonborough collection. The site was built over in 1964. <3>
SZ 013952. Surface finds from a field east of Plainfield Farm, Broadstone indicate the presence of a mesolithic site. The finds include about 1100 flakes/blades, 1 tranchet axe, 49 scrapers, 1 graver, 17 microliths and 55 other flints. The finds were in the J J Stonborough Collection, with 3 microliths in Dorset County Museum. The site was built over in 1964. <4>
