Monument record MDO7006 - Bowl Barrow north of Roger's Hill Farm, Affpuddle

Bowl Barrow diameter 39 feet, height 3 feet. and was digitally plotted during the Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM. The site of this round barrow is visible as a low earthwork on lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM.

SY 81899538 Bowl barrow, 39ft diameter and 3ft high below the crest of a broad south-facing spur above 200ft contour. In an area of very disturbed 'Celtic' fields. Ploughed. <2>

'All but three of the twenty barrows in the parish lie on the heathlands rising to the N. of the River Frome. Most have been damaged by recent military activity. Two are probably bells, one within group (A). Barrows (61-3) lie on chalk N. of the River Piddle. … (63) Bowl (SY 89 NW; 81899538) below crest of braod S.-facing spur above 200 ft. contour. Diam. 39 ft., ht. 3 ft. In area of very disturbed 'Celtic' fields. Ploughed.'
