Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow reported in 1970 as being a mound about three feet high and 46 feet across, possibly surrounded by a ditch. The mound has a hollow in the top, thought to have been caused by antiquarian investigation. A circular mound is visible as an earthwork at this location on aerial photographs. It is considered likely to be the remains of the Bronze Age round barrow described above.

Full Description

A circular mound, approximately 14.8m in diameter, is visible as an earthwork at this location on aerial photographs <7>. It is considered likely to be the remains of the Bronze Age round barrow described above. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.

The diameter of the mound is 12.0 metres and the height in the southern quadrant 1.3 metres. The ditch, which is absent in the south and west, elsewhere averages 2.0 metres wide and 0.4 metres deep. A circular depression on top has a diameter of 6.0 metres and a depth of 1.0 metres. The barrow is covered in gorse and

A Bronze Age bowl barrow located on a on south-facing slope of a narrow valley was reported in 1970 as being a mound about three feet high and 46 feet across, possibly surrounded by a ditch. The mound has a hollow in the top, thought to have been caused by antiquarian investigation. <4>
