Full Description

In 1959, a row of upright stones were discovered in a field lyng about half a mile west of Rempstone stone circle. The stones were of the same material as the stone circlebut much smalleraveragiong about 2ft 6in by 1 ft 6 in, but a few larger ones seem to have been represented by groups of broken stones. Some 23 stones (or groups) were exposed by the plough and three more in trial holes. All have now been removed by the farmer.
The arrangement of the stones at the eastern end suggests a deliberate lay-out in two parallel lines 3 yards apart, with stones set at 5 yard intervals. The proximity of the Rempstone stone circle suggest a possibility that… this is part of a stone avenue or processional way.
