The site lies in a field of rough grassland colonized by low shrubs. This field has been badly disturbed by past quarrying. To the W and E are fields occasionally ploughed and in ley pasture. 500m to the N where the burial was found area quarries still in use. 7/7/D.

Iron Age and Romano-British occupation debris associated with the Kimmeridge shale armlet industry was discovered during quarrying and partially excavated and recorded by J.B. Calkin in 1945 (Calkin 1948, 43). The finds from the site included Early Iron Age pottery, hand cut and lathe turned shale armlets and armlet cores, and large concentrations of flint flakes including rough tools, at a depth of 1m.
