Find Spot record MDO8016 - Roman coin found on Swanage beach in 1961, Swanage

SZ 03117896. A Roman coin of Constantine I was found in 1961, by a local schoolboy on Swanage beach at a depth of 3ft, close to the promenade wall. The coin was dated as AD 332. <1>

'In December 1961 a local schoolboy, Arnold Curtis, found a small bronze coin (AE 3) of Constantine I at a depth of 3 feet on Swanage beach close to the promenade wall about 130 yards north of the Mowlem institute, SZ 03117896. The coin, in fine condition, was a constantinopolis of the Trier mint (second officina-TR.S) issued in AD 332. I am indebted to Mr H. G. White of Swanage for news of this interesting find.'
