Full Description

St Peters Church stood at the west end of East Street. It was a small ancient building consisting of a body only; all tiled; no appearance of any chancel. At the West end was a brick tower built c.1700. It was desecrated soon after the Reformation and was used as a Town Hall. It was re-built in 1768 for a town-hall, a school house, and a gaol. <1>

No further information obtained during field investigation. Town Hall is modern. <3>

St Peters Church, existed in 1348 and was replaced in 1768 by a Town Hall which was subsequently replaced by a modern town hall. <4>
