Full Description

Medieval pottery and what appears to be part of the Castle ditch were found at Pound Lane, Wareham during excavations there c. 1974-5 (Hinton and Hodges 1980). In 1985 two large holes excavated due to the ground being too soft for normal foundations confirmed the position and depth of the inner moat (Jarvis 1986). It is on the south side of Pound Lane and about 7m deep.
