Monument record MDO8416 - Earthworks at Sunnydown Farm, Sunnydown, Worth Matravers

A series of field boundaries of medieval or post medieval date are visible as cropmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs to the west of Sunnydown. The remains of possible ridge and furrow cultivation is associated with the field boundaries.

A series of field boundaries of medieval or post medieval date are visible as cropmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs to the west of Sunnydown (1-3). The remains of possible ridge and furrow cultivation is associated with the field boundaries. The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.

‘SUNNYDOWN FARM: Linear features forming closes, perhaps part of a field system visible on AP. The earthworks are vague and not clearly discernible. Situated in 3 fields all regularly ploughed. RAF/VAP/1946/1821: 3400, 4301, 3402. 7/7/D.’
