Full Description

Unrolled hand-axe (Aurignacian?) found 5' deep at base of gravel in Jan. 1935. No.B.640 in Calkins Coll., British Museum. <1>

An unrolled flint handaxe was found at a depth of 1.5 metres at the base of a gravel deposit in Queens Park Avenue in January 1935. The handaxe is 7.5 cm long with a rounded point and cortex along one straight edge and the other thinned by flaking.

Hand axe with rounded point length 3.3" Cortex along one straight edge, the other thinned by resolved flaking. Quite sharp, colour black. Found in 1935 in Queens Park Avenue, at base of 5 ft. of gravel. <2>
