Full Description
Bowl Barrow on Barnsfield Heath listed. <2>
The bowl barrow has been apparently destroyed during the constructionof temporary military works. <3>
This barrow, or its site, could not be identified. The area is now part of a densely planted forest of conifers. No military works were visible in the area, but these may have been completely erased by afforestation. There is a possibility that a mound reported by S S Reviser is this barrow. (SZ 19 NW 3). <4>
A low mound is visible at this location on current Lidar imagery may be the remains of the barrow. The mound is located approximately 20m northeast of the current HER location. It was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP <6>.
