Summary

A house thought to have been built in the early 17th century. The building has walls of cob covered in plaster. Around 1980 an attached barn at one end was rebuilt and incorporated into the house. The original roof structure survives, and surviving original features of the interior include a large open fireplace with bread oven, and plank-and-muntin partition on the first floor.

‘(4) COTTAGE (80339729), 250 yds. E. of the church, has cob walls and a thatched roof; it is of one storey with an attic and is probably of the late 16th or early 17th century. The ground floor has two rooms with a later extension to the E. The W. room is heated by a very large fireplace in the W. gable wall. A chamfered ceiling beam in the E. room extends over the E. extension.’
