A station on the Admiralty Shutter Telegraph system to Plymouth, constructed 1806, was formerly situated on Toller Down at a height of 812 feet.
Adjoining stations were High Stoy to the east (ST 60 NW 19) and Lambert's Castle to the west (SY 39 NE 17). The Shutter Telegraph ceased operation in September 1814. (2)

No trace visible on surface. Site bisected by hedge. Fields either side under plough - no material noted. (3)
