Summary

A Second World War Type 25 pillbox, now sunk in the ground to embrasure height. A circular structure is visible on aerial photographs of the cliff on the western side of Lulworth Cove. It is considered likely to be the remains of the pillbox described above.

Full Description

A Second World War Type 25 pillbox, now sunk in the ground to embrasure height. Corrugated-iron shuttered. The pillbox was intended to hold four men with three LMGs. Standard type 25 pillbox, situated on W side of cove on side of steep cliff, with field of fire across Lulworth Cove. Now sunken into ground. Corrugated iron shuttered. with PLAN drawn on form. <1-3>

A circular structure is visible on aerial photographs of the cliff on the western side of Lulworth Cove <5>. It is considered likely to be the remains of the pillbox described above. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
