Monument record MWX1443 - Second World War Type 25 pillbox, Charnel, Kimmeridge Bay, Steeple with Tyneham

A World War II type 25 pillbox located on the western cliff of Kimmeridge Bay at Charnel. It is circular in plan, constructed of concrete with corrugated-iron shuttering. The pillbox was built in 1940-41. It was documented as being extant in 1998.

A circular structure is visible on aerial photographs of the cliff edge at Charnel, Kimmeridge Bay <4>, located at NGR SY 89869 78951. It is considered likely to be the remains of the Second World War Type 25 pillbox described above. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
