01-DEC-1666 (Weymouth) John Peacock to Williamson: Several vessels have been wrecked on Portland beach, especially the VICTORY, the Duke of Richmond's privateer of 10 guns, under Capt. Lucy, who was drowned with nine of his company. The storm began on Tuesday, wind SW, and was very violent; the persons drowned would have been saved had they kept to their vessels.
