Maritime record MWX1624 - Unidentified 1701 French Cargo Vessel

1701 wreck of a French cargo vessel which was stranded on the Isle of Portland on her passage from Marseille to Amsterdam. She was carrying a cargo of soap and wine. Constructed of wood, she was a sailing vessel.

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
