Full Description

`Bridport January 4: The BONNE PERE, Vassalen, bound to Lisbon, foundered off Portland on the 2nd instant. Crew saved. Master: Vassalen Date of Loss Qualifier: A (1)

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.

Sherborne Mercury, Monday, 14/1/1833: “The French brig Le Bon Pere, of Fecamp, Captain Vasealen, foundered off Portland, on the night of the 2d ult. The crew arrived in their boat at Bridport Harbour on the 3d, all well.”
