Western Daily Press, Tuesday, 18/5/1886: A telegram from Christchurch, dated May 17, states that a fishing boat foundered off Christchurch Bar at 4.0 a.m. Three lives were rescued by the pride (fishing boat), of Christchurch. The name of the fishing boat that foundered is not given, but the owner is stated to be Mr. H. Frost, of Christchurch.”
