Full Description
Six shallow, humic filled scoops, some with pottery. A dump of burnt flint with some waste flint flakes and three sherds from a late-Roman cooking jar. Eighteen linear features with lengths of one to thirty metres with widths varying from 0.11m to 0.35m and depths from 0.05m to 0.35m. Some of the gullies were defined by iron-panning, Two were parallel and appeared to be on a sub-circular alignment. Their dimensions suggest a palisade trench. Black burnished pottery and worked flint recovered. The proximity of some of the gullies to charcoal pits may imply an industrial association, 611g of slag recovered but no other evidence for metal working was noted (1)
