A site marked on Isaac Taylor’s map of 1770 (DCRO photocopy 1/1) as a tobacco pipe clay pit lies on the west side of Harley Wood. Further to the east in Harley Wood (SZ025877) are further workings perhaps also of clay pits. Dimensions approximately 40m by 30m. Visited 25/2/1992
