Sand Pit, east of the Agglestone, shown as 'Old' on the 1889 OS Map. (1)

The pit described above in (1) is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1945 and 1951, to the north east of Black Down, Studland. The pit is sub-oval in shape and measures 14 m by 8 m. (2-3) This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
