A boat house, which appears on the 1st edition OS map and may be of 19th century date, is visible as a ruined structure off the coast of Studland to the north of Redend Point. It is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of 1951.

Full Description

A boat house, which appears on the 1st edition OS map <2> and may be of 19th century date, is visible as a ruined structure off the coast of Studland, centred at SZ 03751 82914. A sub-square, roofless, structure, measuring 11 m by 10 m is located approximately 50 m from the coastal path. It is covered with water at high tide, but is shown as being above the high water mark for ordinary tides on the 1st edition OS map. This feature was recorded from EH Reconnaissance aerial photographs of 2011 and Google Earth images of 2008. <2, 5, 7>

The building is a sub-square structure measuring 10 m by 11 m <4>. The boathouse is visible as a submerged structure on aerial imagery of 2009 <6>. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
