Full Description
An old sand pit, shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885 [1], also shown on the map of 1900. [2]
A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of The Moors, Arne (3). It is considered likely to be the remains of the post medieval sand pit described above. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is still visible on the most recent Google Earth imagery.
