Full Description
The Steamer Jolly Esmond stranded at Portland Bill in 1929. (1)
The delightfully named, Jolly Esmond went aground at Portland Bill on the evening of the 26th August 1929, after a night of hard work, she managed to get off on the morning high tide under her own power.(2)
The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
