Full Description
The wreckage of a new Spanish Brig, was offered for sale. (1)
On 14th January 1779, the Salisbury Journal published an account of the items to be sold by Auction of the "Nostra Sinor Dil Carmen", a Spanish brig which had been wrecked locally. There were beams, planks, cordage, blocks, cable, and sails for sale wth other items. It was a large, almost new vessel and was worth a considerable sum of money.(2)
The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
