Title | Sewer Pipe Repair, North Square, Dorchester |
Author/Originator | Bellamy, P S |
Date/Year | 2007 |
Abstract/Summary
Peter Bellamy observed a small trench opened by Wessex Water in North Square to repair a broken sewer on 27 July 2007. The trench was only observed from outside the safety fences and barriers. The trench had been shored but the stratigraphy could be seen on the west and south sides of the trench. The sewer trench had cut through the pre-urban soil which was visible along the whole length and width of the trench. This was overlain by ac. 0.1m thick chalk surface with a c. 0.1m thick layer of yellowish-brown stony clay above. This was sealed by modern deposits.
