Abstract/Summary

Further work was conducted on the site of the herringbone wall on the north face of the south curtain wall of the middle ward at Corfe Castle during 1950. This second season was directed by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments. Excavation was largely confined to the western half of the site where the stratigraphy was undisturbed by earlier explorers. This allowed the recovery of an important pottery series, including a single sherd of Samian at a depth of 10ft.
