Abstract/Summary

The report presents the results of an archaeological evaluation carried out for the landowner in connection withproposed residential development of the site. Three machine-cut trenches representing a c2% sample by area of the proposed development area. Trenching on the West Street frontage and in the centre of the site indicated the presence of quarry pits, probably pre-dating 1887. Similar activity on the King Street frontage, but more extensive later landscaping may have taken place, again prior to 1887. Trace amounts of medieval pottery were found.
