Title | An Archaeological Assessment of Land at Blandford St Mary, Dorset |
Author/Originator | Aldsworth, F G |
Date/Year | 1999 |
Abstract/Summary
This assessment of land at Blandford St Mary, Dorset, considers the likely effect of any development on known sites of archaeological interest on the piece of land between Dorchester Hill and Fair Mile Road, which is the subject of a Local Plan Inquiry for housing development. … A desk-top study reviews the evidence available for archaeology in the area and concludes that, on the basis of an archaeological evaluation carried out on adjoining land in 1994, the only site known to have existed has probably already been destroyed by quarrying in the nineteenth century. It concludes that archaeology does not form a constraint upon development.
