Title | Report on Archaeological Evaluation on Land East of Whitehorse Cottage, Whitehorse Lane, Sutton Poyntz, Dorset. |
Author/Originator | Clarke, C P |
Date/Year | 2011 |
Arrowhead Archaeology | 135 |
Abstract/Summary
Archaeological evaluation was undertaken in January 2011 by means of excavation of two machine trenches. No archaeological features, deposits or finds of earlier date than post-medieval were present in the sampled area. For the Roman period, where the highest potential for contemporary remains was perceived, there was notable absence of Roman finds or cut features, including graves.
The two post-medieval features identified are probably associated with Whitehorse cottage to the immediate west of the area of proposed development.
