Abstract/Summary

‘Terrain Archaeology undertook a rapid photographic survey of the exposed walls in Chapelhay Gardens, Weymouth, in advance of stabilisation and consolidation works. These walls date from the early post-medieval to the modern period and represent the remains of former property boundaries, garden terrace walls and the remains of out houses to the rear of the now demolished properties that originally fronted onto the High Street in the medieval core of Weymouth. This was followed up by observations during regrading works on the site. No archaeologically significant features or deposits were exposed during the groundworks, but a number of historic walls were reduced in height and buried beneath the regraded slopes.’
