Abstract/Summary
‘An archaeological evaluation, consisting of one 4m x 1m, and one 5m x 1m machine-excavated, trial trenches, was undertaken by AC Archaeology at 6 St Michael’s Road, Wareham, Dorset, on May 14th 2015. Trial Trench 1 contained a possible medieval pit, an indeterminate pit and a N-S aligned linear ditch or feature. Trial Trench 2 contained a single linear ditch or feature which was also orientated N-S, but was otherwise devoid of archaeological remains. The demolition of the previous dwelling on the property had some impact on the depths of the soil horizons, and a small amount of the archaeological remains were impacted by the steel ring concrete piles that survive on site from the previous dwelling. However, natural, undisturbed subsoil was reached within both trial trenches.’
