Abstract/Summary
'Terrain Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation of the proposed site of eight new houses on land off Verne Common Road, Fortuneswell, Portland, Dorset. Four trenches were excavated, investigating a sample of approximately 5% of the proposed development area of the site. No buried archaeology was revealed. A number of low earthworks have been
identified on the site and these were shown to be ephemeral, probably modern, features,
other than a mid nineteenth century boundary bank. A scatter of unstratified flint and chert
was also recovered.'
