Title | Abbey Farm, Abbotsbury, Dorset. Installation of Children's Trampoline. Archaeological Excavation. |
Author/Originator | Heaton, M |
Date/Year | 2016 |
Abstract/Summary
‘Excavation of a 2.65m x 2.65m foundation trench for a childrens' ground level trampoline, to a depth of c. 0.70m below ground level, at Abbey Farm within the St Peter's Abbey Scheduled Monument at Abbotsbury in Dorset, revealed c. 0.4m of 'made ground' of 18th or 19th century formation lying directly on a compact sandy-clay 'natural'. No significant archaeological remains were encountered. The report concludes that medieval ground surfaces contemporary with the abbey have been severely truncated and that installation of the trampoline will not affect the archaeological potential or significance of the St Peter's Abbey Scheduled Monument.’
