Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation was carried out by AC Archaeology on behalf of Mr E Hiscock in relation to a planning application for a new farmhouse. The evaluation comprised an earthwork survey and excavation of two trenches. The site was situated in an area described by the Royal Commssion on Historical Monuments as containing earthworks possibly associated with a deserted medieval settlement at Hilton. There was no evidence found for surviving earthworks in the vicinity nor any archaeological features found in the trenches. There were some sherds of medieval pottery found in the overburden.
