Title | Stonehills Mine, Portland Gradiometer Survey |
Author/Originator | Geoflo |
Date/Year | 2014 |
Abstract/Summary
The gradiometer survey was carried out on behalf of Terrain Archaeology prior to topsoil stripping by Albion Stone. The part of the site surveyed was the area of the field where the work would have a significant subsurface impact. There were two discrete concentrations of positive and negative magnetic anomalies to the north and towards the south-west of the survey area. These were mostly linear features which were likely to be ditches or gullies. The report concluded that there were demonstrable archaeological features in two areas of the site.
