SDO16323 - Land adjacent to Frome Valley Road, Dorset

An archaeological desk-based assessment was carried out to consider the archaeological potential of a site prior to development. No designated archaeological assets of national significance were recorded within the study site. There was one Scheduled Monument c. 1km south east of the site but sharing no intervisibility. The site was located within heathland and evidence suggested that this was historically unoccupied and any archaeological remains would be agricultural and dating from the post-medieval period. A Second World War airfield was located to the south of the site and a weapons pit recorded but not observed during the site visit. This was not a constraint to development.
