Abstract/Summary
Report on the archaeological evaluation of the proposed site of new tennis courts, formerly a bowling green. Two trenches revealed the upper parts of three large parallel ditches running roughly north-south. These are interpreted as part of the defences of the Roman town of Durnovaria. The bank of one of the ditches had preserved beneath it the old ground surface, which itself sealed a ditch, thought possibly to be Neolithic.
