Title | Land off Overcombe Drive, Weymouth, Dorset: Archaeological Evaluation |
Author/Originator | Golebiowska, D |
Date/Year | 2022 |
Thames Valley Archaeological Services | ODW 22/134 |
Abstract/Summary
‘The evaluation was carried out as intended with only small alteration to the trench alignment. Despite the site’s high archaeological potential stemming from its proximity to the Scheduled Ancient Monuments of a Roman temple (1013371) and Roman villa (1002704), as well as a Roman cemetery, the trenches revealed one undated gully and no finds of Roman date nor of any other archaeological interest. Clearly modern rubble and waste material was likely related to the 20th century Overcombe Drive residential development and construction of an electricity substation. The site is considered to have very low archaeological potential.’
