Abstract/Summary
Archaeological evaluation, consisting of the machine-excavation of 24 trenches, on land off Radipole lane, Weymouth, was undertaken by AC Archaeology LTD during July 2021. The site lies on the northwest fringes of Weymouth and comprised of three fields on a south-facing slope running down onto low-lying ground, centred on SY 66009 80610. The area has been subject to a previous geophysical survey.
The evaluation excavation revealed a single, possibly Bronze Age, ditch and a sparse scatter of Bronze Age pottery, flint, and Romano-British pottery, together with a small number of post-medieval and modern ditches and drains. Two extensive spreads of modern debris were located in the south part of the site.
