Abstract/Summary
‘Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken during groundworks associated with the extension of existing flood defence embankments at Wick, Bournemouth, Dorset, between November 2014 and January 2015. Whereas the works area lies within an area of archaeological interest, and is located near to the Iron Age and Roman settlement and port site of Hengistbury Head, no significant archaeological deposits or artefacts were recovered during monitoring and recording of the relevant groundworks. However, a record was made during maintenance works associated with the historic water meadows which lie to the south of the river Stour.’
